Did Art Deco take off in the UK or was it largely confined to the USA?
I know parts of Europe and the USA were heavily influenced by Art Deco and I absolutely love the style, but I’ve done a little research and all the architecture, fashion and other Art Deco-influenced parts of life in the 1920s/ 30s seem to be all about New York.
Did Art Deco influence Britain? Where can I see Art Deco remnants in the UK?
What simple steps can I take to decorate my own home in this style?

Joan’s answer is a good one. Art Deco did take off all over britain, and was prevalent in all sorts of architecture and engineering projects, from cinemas – heavily influenced by the craze for Egyptology which swept the world after the discovery of Tuankhamun’s tomb – to Fire Stations, pubs, and bridges. There were also manufacturers of china, cutlery, and ironware who produced art deco design by the hundreds, and you can still pick it up in junk shops and antique fairs with ease. Oh, and Clocks and watches.

If you really want to decorate your house in Art Deco style, check out the books, chose colours which were popular, and you can use artex to get some of the embossed effects of the period
