Children’s Furniture that Works as Youngsters Grow

Within a couple of years, an infant will grow into a climbing, running toddler. Before you are aware of it your toddler is stepping on the bus for school. Given these quick changes, it will be a smart move on your part to get furniture for your child’s room that grows with him or her. By simply doing a small amount of planning you can save yourself a mountain of aggravation by not having to continually find new furniture for your child’s room.

Purchase unfinished wood furniture and carved wood art that can be painted and repainted to accommodate changing tastes in colors, themes, and patterns.

Convertible Bed: Many cribdesigners these days are making cribs that can convert to toddler beds, daybeds, and even twin size beds. The original crib railings can be removed and shorter railings can be added instead, and you can purchase an extension kit that will make the bed long enough to fit your young school age child. By guaranteeing that your furniture is neutral in tone as well as style, it will always make a great foundation for a child’s room. Some manufacturers even offer interchangeable hardware and trim to concoct new uses for the same piece.

Armoire: In the absence of a closet an armoire serves as the main storage for the room.  The perfect place to house baby supplies, it is a functional piece of basic furniture. Bench: While a toy box certainly helps to organize a bedroom, a child will rapidly outgrow it, and this is why a using a storage bench as a toy box and then later for storage is such a popular idea. Find a storage bench whose cover is light enough for a child to lift and make sure that it has a spacer so that it will not crush small fingers. For an older child, the storage bench can work as a seating area with the addition of some comfortable padding on it.

Storage Cubes: Effective for storage at any age, the modular storage cubes are a good basic piece of furniture to add to any child’s room. Some modular storage cubes are designed such that they can be fitted together to create a bookcase or wardrobe, and some have doors that can be attached and detached. Those with contemporary, clean lines and neutral colors ensure that they will remain a central piece through the years.
