What is City Hall and What does the Mayor do?
I try searching on the internet, but I don’t can’t find anything that clears it up for me. What happens at City Hall? What is located there, in terms of documents and what can ordinary citizens do there? What is the mayor legally allowed to do in terms of making laws and other things?

A mayor’s powers differ depending on the form of government in a city. In a mayor-council (or ‘strong mayor’) form of government, the mayor is the chief executive officer. He runs the city on a day-to-day basis and chairs the council.
However, in a council-manager form of government, a city manager is hired to run the city, and the mayor’s role is generally limited to chairing the council meetings and ceremonial responsibilities.
In either setting, it is the council who makes the laws. The difference comes in who makes the daily operating decisions.
