cuban spanish?
how does cuban spanish sound like compared to the other spanishes out there? can u give me a music artist that has a strong cuban accent so that i can hear wat it sounds like?
It’s closest to the Spanish spoken in other Caribbean countries, Puerto Rico & DR.
Some major characteristics:
-the letter “s” at the end of a syllable or word is hardly pronounced, so “las dos chicas” sounds like “la do chica”
-final n is pronounced almost like the ng in sing, or else the vowel is nasalized (también sounds kind of like “tambieng”)
-r at the end of a word is sometimes pronounced like “l”, so “hablar” might sound like “hablal”
There’s this saying about Cuban Spanish, that it sounds like people talking with “a potato in their mouth” (I’m translating here from Spanish)
