animators and artist….i need legal help?
i want to do some cel work, background work, concept style art that i can frame and sell on my own. but all i do is disney stuff. (mickey, princesses, stitch etc) and i want to know what legal rights i have to acquire or how ever that works to be able to sell it legally. i know i dont necessarily have to be working for the company cuz i know lots of artists like thomas kinkade that have done original disney work and dont work for the company. it will be deeply appreciated for your help. thanks

No No, not just NO, NOOOOOO!
There’s is NO way you can do this legally. Thomas Kinkade is NOT an example to use, whether or not he’s done Disney art it doesn’t mean anyone can just copy the work, he most likely was asked BY Disney! As an artist you can attempt to ask permission to use other artists & photographers work from the artists themselves, but it’s a long process & involves copyright laws & legal permission. Some “artists” ignore this & they are often charged with plagiarism for copyright infringement, the ones who don’t get caught, SHOULD!
It’s good to practice, but you can never show or sell or post or give away art that you copy from other artworks, including the unknown artist no one’s ever heard of all the way to Disney’s. The best thing to do is continue to practice by “copying” the work, keep those practice drawings for yourself & learn to develop your own style & characters even. That is how individual artists make a living (or die of starvation trying.) It’s a huge legal field to deal with like anything else in the real world.
