help with good lighting in Gallery shorts/ night shots?

I have a canon rebel xti, i got it a few months ago and am fairly new to this camera, i am going to one of my friends friend gallery show tonight and he asked me to take some shots there. Well the gallery is in a house, at night 9pm, gallery + flash = horrible. I need help finding what settings are great for a canon rebel xti in this situation, can anyone help me out? Basicly, what settings can i use tonight in a home/ night situation with no flash, thanks!!

With that set the camera to Av mode make sure the Aperture is set to its largest opening(meaning smallest number) and increase your ISO as needed. If you have a flash try pointing it straight up and bouncing the light in. Good luck I’d like to see what you come out with.
