Not Print

How did people print books before computers were invented?
Because more than 20 or 30 years ago, people didn’t have their work saved in a Microsoft Word document and could print it out that way. If so, then how did they print their stuff? I know that there was the invention of the printing press, but I don’t know how that works without electricity. So I’m guessing it’s not all handwritten. How do the words get onto the printing press in the first place? I know that there are bibles that are hundreds of years old, so it must be possible.
We didn’t. You can’t print if you don’t have a printer, right?
Photocopying was also quite new – and expensive.
So we normally didn’t print anything.
Instead you had to type what you wanted in print on a different kind of paper, and that paper would be stencilled (I don’t know the correct word for this) on a stencil machine.
This was most common, usually for school or universities. If you needed better quality or larger quantities you had to have it print in a professional printshop.
My first computer (pc’s didn’t exist as yet) I bought in 1976. It was an Acorn Atom with a whopping 4 kilobyte internal memory. That was really something: 1 Kb came standard, 2 Kb or 4 KB was going for the max!
