Why are lasers used instead of motion sensors in the movies portraying theft?
For example the movies which portray art theft, Ocean’s Eleven, Entrapment.
And they “dance” trough the hall with lasers.
Do they really use such lasers today, if so why?
In a movie its all about visual presentation. And a laser beam looks cooler than a passive motion detector. Its also easier to show the audience a near miss as the hero comes close to breaking a beam. This adds suspence to the movie which is all about entertainment.
