Painting Sailing
What paint should i use on my sailing dinghy?
I’ve got a medium sized fibreglass sailing dinghy that i want to repaint because it looks a little scruffy (but it’s all in good condition) and i want to make it look a bit better. When not in use its stored out of the water on a trailer. When in use it’s usually in salt water.
So, What paint should I use?
and is there anything that I should do before and/or after painting?
P.S.: I want to spend as little as possible!

This is only a dinghy that needs a lick of paint. It’s not a yacht that sits in water all year (it’s in there for about 2 hours a week max.). Basicly all i need to know is: is there some kind of waterproof paint? and does i really need to be antifouling/wax/varnish etc (considering how long its in the water)?
You may not need any paint. Often the finish will look dull and faded because it’s oxidized. You can get a fairly good finish with a combination restorer wax like that made by 3M. You will get a better fisnish by using buffing / polishing compound followed by using a had wax with high carnuba content.
The first option has little cost and moderate time investment. The second option will take slightly more money and as much time as you care to take. Both are less expensive and will provide a nicer looking finish than paint. Check the links below for more info.
