However, one painter that became most known of them all is Diego Velasquez; he is comsidered as one of the most influential and most adored master in his own time. Velasquez could be acknowledged as Spain’s most well-known and admired artists who has made many notable and admirable paintings.

Being the first born of six children, Diego Velasquez was brough  up in a family of average class in June 5, 1599. Velasquez’s ability was so obvious that at the young age of eleven, he started his lesson with another master of the arts at that time whose name was Francisco Pacheco. He married Pacheco’s daughter and made a living by doing several paintings of religious themes and tavern artworks and saved enough to buy a house for his family and another house to rent out.

Diego Velasquez created many of unique paintings that made him popular and an example of the country’s most influential personalities. One famous painting that he did when he met Marquez de Spinola is the Surrender of Breda; the painting presents the victory of Spinola and when it was shown to Spinola he was captivated and greatly admired the brilliance of how Velasquez captured such emotions and expressed them through realism in his portraits. Another masterpiece that Velasquez produced was the Las Meninas or The Maids in Honour; it is known to be a great masterpiece of all time and acknowledged as most sought after painting around the world.

Diego Velasquez can really be distinguished as one of Spain’s national pride because of the fame of the artworks that he produced and the impact it made on painting as an art form.
