First it should start with mutual respect, and understanding that everyone is an individual, so their learning needs will vary but in general, one should be passionate about what is being taught and do it in such a way to arouse curiosity, getting students involved is the best way for them to learn.
The ideal of it is to impart knowledge that will last a life time, and to help them shape and mold their ideals into reality.

As a teacher, you must have the ability and desire to do the following:
Share knowledge with others
Challenge, inspire, motivate, and encourage students
Support and guide future leaders
Make a difference in an individuals life
Feel pride in your own and as well as your students’ accomplishments
Obtain more knowledge
Lecture on material that interests you as well as material that may not interest you
To be fair, and tolerable and a sense of humor.
