Signed Old

Signed Old
I found an old book, its signed and dated oct. 1917, is it worth something?

I went to an antique store the other day and found an old book from the 19 hundreds, I bought it for 47 cents and I googled it and found people selling it for upwards of $200, have I found something good? Its called-
The Vision of Sir Launfal and Other Poems, with introduction and notes by Francis R. Lane by Allyn and Bacon
copyright, 1900 by Francis R. Lane
the first page is also signed and dated Verna Noffsinger- Oct. 26-1917

It depends on the edition, the condition, and other factors that are impossible to assess from what you have said. I can tell you that the book isn’t “signed” in the sense that means anything to its value. Verna Noffsinger was probably just the original owner of the book. “Signed” to a collector means signed by the author.
“The Vision of Sir Launfal” is a poem written by James Russell Lowell, first published in about 1842, so what you have is not even close to a first edition. The copyright date of 1900 refers only to the introduction, which was written by Francis R. Lane. There have been many many editions of this poem published in the last 160+ years. Some of them are illustrated, and that makes a great difference in the value as well.

Disney’s 1959 animated effort was the studio’s most ambitious to date, a widescreen spectacle boasting a gorgeous waltz-filled score adapting Tchaikovsky. Gone With the Wind [VHS]

Gone With the Wind [VHS]

$1.49

David O. Selznick wanted Gone with the Wind to be somehow more than a movie, a film that would broaden the very idea of what a film could be and do and look like. In many respects he got what he worked so hard to achieve in this 1939 epic (and all-time box-office champ in terms of tickets sold), and in some respects he fell far short of the goal. While the first half of this Civil War drama is tau…

A League of Their Own

A League of Their Own

$4.53

Penny Marshall’s popular 1992 comedy sheds light on a little-known chapter of American sports history with its story of a struggling team in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The league was formed when the recruiting of soldiers during World War II resulted in a shortage of men’s baseball teams. The AAGPBL continued after the war (until 1954), and Marshall’s movie depicts the le…
