Im a black male and put my moms olive oil relaxer in it to get waves but now I want dreads and want my hair?
to grow fast and natural. Has the perm messed or slowed down the growth of my hair? And should I just get a haircut and will that get rid of the permed hair?
Well since you permed it it might be a little harder to lock up, but I wouldn’t worry about cutting the hair off unless it’s damaged and can’t support dreads. I was able to get MY hair to lock up and I had super silky, super straight hair before my dreads, so if your permed hair still has waves it should do just fine. The length that is permed might look a little different when it dreads from the new growth, but you can always cut the ends off when they fully lock up and the new hair will grow into the dreads as it comes out, so you can trim off the permed ends and not worry about losing your dreads.
