Yellow Red

Can I use component wires to a standard tv reciever with yellow, white and red sockets?
I am looking for a dvi to rca cable adapter for my standard tv(not HD, it has yellow white and red plug holes) and all I seem to be finding on ebay are the HD RCA cables(Blue Red and Green). Would it work if I used those cables for my computer to TV connection because I cant find the (yellow red and white ones.)
If I am understanding your situation correctly, the answer is that it will not work because the red and white connections that you have are for audio, and only the yellow one is for video.
The difference with component cables (the blue, red, and green ones that you mention) is that all three of them are used for the same video feed.
I don’t think it is possible to directly convert DVI to ‘composite’ (which is your yellow input). Do you have a standard VGA display output? There are cables on ebay that go from VGA to composite.
